Introduction

Hello and welcome to the DatabaseAce online tour.

As we proceed, clicking bold links in the tour's text will cause the element it references to 'light up' beneath this transparent window.

For instance, please click here to highlight the 'Login' button.

If this window obstructs your view of an interface element, simply drag it with your mouse to a more suitable position on the screen.

The tour runs on top of a live demo instance of DatabaseAce's product, called REIGNN (Relational Equivalence, Interschema Graphing and Nested Navigation). If at any time you wish to end the automated tour in order to explore on your own, please click 'End Tour.' You will then be able to continue using the program at the point where the tour left off.

REIGNN is fully skinnable and thus has no fixed visual appearance; the fictitious 'Web Technologies Company' login screen seen here is only an example.

The 'Web Technologies Company' example skin and others used in this tour are based on open-source HTML templates created and generously made available by Free Website Templates.

This demo instance uses three example databases, two of which are made available by Sun Microsystems through the 'Java Blueprints' series.

The ' Java Pet Store' and ' Java Adventure Builder' databases used here are copyright Sun Microsystems; their use does not constitute or imply an endorsement of DatabaseAce by Sun Microsystems. Please click here to view the 'Java Pet Store' license; click here to view the 'Java Adventure Builder' license.

Since we're on the login screen, we'll begin the tour with the subject of authentication.

REIGNN maintains small internal user accounts and can thus authenticate users internally.

It can also authenticate against any number of external databases and/or LDAP servers in any order (including Microsoft ActiveDirectory, Novell eDirectory and OpenLDAP).

Please click 'Next' to log in automatically and continue the tour.
