Why DatabaseAce?
1. Unrivaled Charts
DatabaseAce's highly granular and systematic approach to searching, organizing and aggregating data pays handsome dividends in the charting area. DatabaseAce offers some of the industry's most advanced business intelligence functionality through visually stunning, animated, Flash-based charts that can be customized with an impressive collection of chart types, effects and other controls. Breathe life into any metric that can be defined with the filters and angles described above.
2. Easy 'Mass Change' Capabilities
Manually updating a large number of records is a tedious, error-prone, time-consuming and expensive proposition for many organizations. DatabaseAce's
vertical
utility allows administrators to visually construct macros that instantly carry out one or more changes against the underlying dataset (filters are used to specify the target dataset). Verticals can be saved and executed as many times as is necessary, saving untold hours of hassle and labor.
3. Recursive Interface
Users navigate and drill through data inside the DatabaseAce interface in a way that is highly intuitive, symmetrical and totally unique. Move through the schema for as far as its defined relations will allow, adding, updating and deleting records from within other records as you go. No competitor offers this degree of flexibility in its architecture.
4. CHUQL
CHUQL is a simple internal query language that administrators use to exercise organic control over DatabaseAce and the data it exposes. CHUQL makes it possible for administrators to specify who should be allowed to do what and under what circumstances. All software uses simple 'yes/no' properties (a.k.a. 'flags') to turn functionality on and off. With CHUQL, administrators gain a third option: 'yes', 'no', or 'yes under some conditions but not others.' Easy-to-use CHUQL queries allow those conditions to be expressed. The net effect is that administrators can grant or restrict access on a database-by-database, table-by-table, record-by-record or field-by-field basis. Similar levels of highly granular control can also be exercised over various aspects of program functionality.
5. Precision Filtering
DatabaseAce uses a high-powered data filtering mechanism that allows users to visually employ nested boolean logic to create filters of unlimited complexity and precision. The ability to search records is a standard feature of all code generators. Our competitors' programs thus universally allow users to search records, but this is often handled via a single text search field, or perhaps through a small collection of static, pre-determined search fields. Under DatabaseAce's approach, users can string any number of search parameters together and/or nest them inside each other using classic
AND/OR
logic. No data subset is too granular for DatabaseAce; records matching any arbitrary set of finely-tuned conditions can be called up, viewed, exported, charted, aggregated, manipulated and analyzed.
6. User-Driven Column Control
Finding the right records is often of little use if one is looking at the wrong columns. DatabaseAce's
angling
mechanism allows users to define for themselves the columns they want to work with and the order in which those columns should be displayed and sorted. Calculations, concatenations and aggregations can be visually defined and included to meet the user's exact requirements. When combined with the filtering mechanism described above, the angling feature means DatabaseAce can look at any data, from any conceivable 'angle.'
7. Unique XML-based Approach
Though it competes with code generating programs, DatabaseAce is not a code generator; DatabaseAce's approach is entirely unique. Our competitors' programs operate by reading an external database and then using its structure to generate a static body of code that can be deployed as a normal web application. By contrast, DatabaseAce reads the same external database and generates a XML-based model which is then rendered at runtime to produce a deployable application. Among other things, this means that administrators are free to fine-tune the resulting web application while it is running rather than being forced to make all configuration decisions up front before the application is generated. It also gives administrators a great deal more flexibility in the scope of the what can and cannot be configured and makes it easy for a single user to work with multiple databases simultaneously for centralized data management.
